Reporting to the President the Controller is responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and financial reporting activities. In addition, the Controller directs all day-to-day finance operations and manages an Accountant. The work includes functional responsibility of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all contract-types of government contracts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller will ensure the systems and procedures are in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will work closely with senior & program leadership, regarding finance and accounting policies & procedures but also explore how the finance function can support program operations. In addition, s/he will partner with the senior leadership, and the human resources (HR) to enhance and better integrate finance & accounting, HR, and IT functions. This partnering requires regular meetings ensuring the internal process is in alignment with sound accounting principles and practices.


POSITION DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and contract budgets and actual expenditures
  • Coordinate & respond to all audit activity, questions, issues raised by the DCAA and external auditors
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements gather and analyze information from departments and the general ledger system as well as prepare all supporting documentation for external audit reviews
  • Key player with corporate leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process. Operate as the focal point for administering and reviewing all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain and correct variances as appropriate
  • Analyze financial/non-financial data along with a strong ability to interpret the results for the senior leadership team
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations (balance sheet, various P/L accounts) and prepare quarterly senior leadership reviews
  • Complete monthly close procedures on time
  • Oversee all financial, project & contract accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with contract budgets throughout the contract periods & company fiscal years; assimilate and ensure accuracy of financial reporting materials for government and corporate
  • Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the program heads and senior leadership
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of semi-monthly, multistate payroll for over 100 employees
  • Prepare and oversee the annual indirect rate provisionals and incurred cost audits (ICE)
  • Answer finance and accounting questions by researching and inquiring key stakeholders
  • Protect the organization's integrity by keeping organizational and client information confidential at all times
  • Supervise finance & accounting staff

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree accounting, finance or related field required; Master degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or finance required working with CPFF, FFP, T&M contracting experience a must
  • Experience overseeing payroll administration required
  • Experienced with DCAA audits and government contracting required
  • Understanding government & commercial cost proposal requirements preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting software with any of the following: Microsoft Nav (preferred), Deltek, or Unanet or other Government accounting software
  • Prior working experience in a Small Business preferred
